Sewing sessions (UK)

We are running sewing sessions in a (hopeful) growing number of locations. If you would like more information then email dorcasdressproject@gmail.com

These sewing sessions are a friendly and social time where people can either complete their own projects or learn new skills through pre-set topics, advertised locally. People may use our sewing equipment knowing there is technical advice at hand or bring their own sewing equipment. Each session includes:

  • A space to complete your own project
  • A teaching space where you are welcome to participate with the topic of the week
  • A mid session refreshment break where we gather and chat together – being friends and knowing each other is important to us.

Providing a space for people to gather and sew is intended to bring local community together. Our sessions are free of charge, especially for those people with no regular income, however we do ask people who can afford it, to help cover our costs. You are also welcome to help us cover the costs for those who are unable to. It costs us about £120 to deliver each two hour session.

Each sewing group has their own WhatsApp group so we can keep in touch, share session details and build community. When you attend your first session you will be invited to join the group. We have a team of paid staff and volunteers: if you are interested in volunteering please be in touch. dorcasdressproject@gmail.com
