Pricing
Our aim is to support our dressmakers as much as we possibly can. Pricing is a tricky element to get right. It is important we value the effort and energy that has gone into making each dress whilst also recognising our customers need to receive a product they can wear and enjoy. We therefore have a pricing tier system, we ask our customers to have some humanity when they are purchasing dresses from new and starter sewing hubs.
- a dress costing £34 or less will have been made in a way that there are errors in production that affect how it is worn, for example, the dress might not be symmetrical or have been repaired in some way. This honours the dressmaker’s efforts whilst recognising their continued training needs.
- a dress costing £44 or less will be of an acceptable quality: the dressmaker will have been given feedback on how to improve their stitch work. We might find tension issues with the sewing machine for example. Alternatively you might find less sympathetically placed patterns on the fabric.
- a dress costing £49 will be of a good quality, with some minor issues, for example the sticky labels used to publicise the fabric brand have left residue on the dress and it needs washing before its first wear.
Dressmakers receive feedback with the aim of improving their quality so they can benefit from increases in their earnings.
